About Giclee Printing

Giclee (zhee-klay) as the French word "Giclée" is a feminine noun that means a spray or a spurt of liquid. Giclee prints are created typically using professional 8-Color to 12-Color ink-jet printers.  These modern technology printers are capable of producing incredibly detailed prints for both the fine art and photographic markets. The term  "Giclee print" connotes an elevation in print-making technology. Images are generated from high resolution digital scans and printed with archival quality inks onto various substrates including canvas, hard board, fine art, and photo-base paper. The Giclee printing process provides better color accuracy than other means of reproduction. With the added touch of hand-embellishment, Giclees are becoming more popular year by year.

About Hand Embellishment

The fastest-selling works in many galleries today are canvas limited editions that have the added element of hand embellishing in one manner or another. Although not an original, it is sometimes difficult for the novice eye to see any difference. Hand Embellished works look just like an original oil or acrylic masterpiece at a fraction of the original cost. Many collectors realize the value of a hand embellished work or art over a straight Giclee reproduction. Each print is individually painted (touched and created) by the artist, making each print unique. Unlike mass prints, even limited editions, a Giclee hand-embellished work of art is a true one-of-a-kind. The dealers who sell them  are delighted with the attention from customers who can't always afford an original, but who don't really want "just a print."
